The Hero Codex, decoded — 184 collection sets and what they pay

Version 27 wired a codex layer over the entire hero roster — the "Hero Collection System" the tables carried and the V27 walkthrough teased. This post is the deep dive: every collection set, every membership requirement, the account-wide star ladder, and what pays out where — all 184 sets in one table at the bottom.

How the codex actually works

Three tables, read together:

• CostumeCodexGroupData (470 rows). Each row pairs a costume with a rarity band. The game has 26 hero-costume "skins" (Me, Guardian, Cactus — the roster the Heroes & Evolution page crewed up), and each can sit at bands 1–8. Owning a costume at a band lights up that milestone.
• CostumeCodexData (184 rows). One row per collection set: its localized name and two option bonuses. When your owned milestones cover a set's full membership list, the pair activates account-wide.
• CostumeCodexStarGradeData (53 rows). A global ladder on top of the sets: reach 1★, 3★, then every +3 stars up through 156★ of total star investment across the collection, and each rung pays another option (or pair of options).

The ladder, exactly

Fifty-three rungs: 1★ first, a catch-up step at 3★, 6★, then +3 each run to 156★. Since the roster is 26 costumes with star ladders topping out per-costume, the deep rungs are whale territory — but the early ones (1★, 3★, 6★, 9★) are reachable by accounts with a few costumes and a week of grinding.

All 184 sets, exactly as the data orders them

Set membership splits like this: 26 sets with 1 member, 84 sets with 2 members, 43 sets with 3 members, 15 sets with 4 members, 9 sets with 5 members, 7 sets with 6 members. Requirements show as costume + rarity band; get every member of a set to its band and the bonus pair lights up. Bonus values are shown as stored — the client renderers fill exact units at runtime, so "+3" signs as +3% or +3 flat depending on the stat. 31 of the 184 sets span 4–6 members, mostly at band 8, the Exotic tier — the payoff targets.

The gate, and the payment envelope

ContentUnlockData row for the codex ships with icon Textures/ContentUnlockIcons/Icn_CostumeCodex and menu type OpenCostumeCodex — unlocked by clearing quest 168 (a mid-game quest line, so new accounts meet the codex after establishing a roster, not day one). Alongside it, CostumeStepupPackageData ships 20 rows of step-up purchase bundles (remote flag ON_COSTUME_STEPUP=1) — optional acceleration to the star milestones, not a separate stat source.

The catch-ups and what to watch

• Units are client-filled. The stored values run 1–26. The exact percent-vs-flat ratings live in the option renderers, not these tables; when we pin them, this table grows a units column.
• Weapon-class damage. 53 sets open with one of the six weapon-class bonuses, and those only feed heroes on that weapon — the narrowest payouts in the table. The broad ones (Skill Damage, Critical Damage, Basic Atk) land on every hero you field.
• Step-up packages — watch their prices in the shop tables; the bundles sit right next to the new Halloween revenue rows.
